Moye Family Custom Farmhouse

Retirement. An exciting time of life, right? There are so many stages of life until we reach retirement; we imagine it, we plan for it and then all of sudden it’s here and you are living it. For some of us, we are living day to day that it’s hard to imagine ever being retired. Or maybe it’s on the horizon and you are so close to the excitement that retirement brings. If you are enjoying your well-deserved retirement, congratulations!

But retirement isn’t something that just happens. There is preparing and planning, and more preparing and planning. Let’s not forget all the preparing and planning too. We all know it’s not easy and not much fun, but for major things in life, it’s necessary. And the final result from all that preparing and planning is usually pretty amazing. Which brings us to talk about the Moye’s custom farmhouse. It is stunning and a true representation of the time they spent, yes I’ll say it again, preparing and planning.

About 10 years ago David and Rhonda Moye purchased several acres of land just outside the city limits of Senoia, Georgia. They didn’t purchase the property knowing they would someday build their retirement home. They have always enjoyed living in their large historic homes and have some experience renovating old historic homes. Rhonda, especially, enjoyed living in a large home and living in historic Senoia. She couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. Building a custom home just wasn’t part of the life they envisioned.

But when they started planning and preparing for the reality of retirement, downsizing and building a custom home started to become a reality and a perfect fit for what they want for the rest of their lives. Eventually after many discussions with family and colleagues, Will Leslie and Curtis Sebastian of L & S Contracting came highly recommended.

Remember, how the Moye’s have had some experience renovating historic homes? Well, turns out they have quite a bit of experience with construction and renovating. It wasn’t easy to decide to build a custom home. Then to let go of control, that wasn’t easy either. There was a lot of anticipation of the bumps in the road. Not what the bumps would be, but how bumpy was this road going to get. Good thing they had Will and Curtis on their side.

“Curtis and Will have a way of truly listening to their clients. They have a strong work ethic, which eased all of our anticipation. The experience was painless! They also have great relationships with their contractors. And that goes a long way in the construction business”, said Rhonda Moye.

And now on to the good stuff, the final product, the Moye’s custom farmhouse. I can take time to describe it with all these big, fancy words and I’m sure you would enjoy reading it. But let’s just get to the pictures already! Check it out!

L & S Contracting was established in 2012 by Will Leslie and Curtis Sebastian. Their custom homes in Coweta County, Georgia and the surrounding areas including Fayette County and Pike County, Georgia are built with quality products and outstanding craftsmanship.

Thornton Family Kitchen Remodel

Thornton Family Kitchen Remodel

The Thornton Family has lived in their Peachtree City, Georgia home since it was built in 1992. Other than some new appliances they purchased in late 2015, the kitchen was still in its original 1992 condition. While they had been discussing making some changes, it wasn’t until their dishwasher caused a leak and damaged their floors that made the Thornton’s pick up the phone to call L & S Contracting.

The Thornton’s are like so many of us that want to make changes to a house that we love. We dream about how great it would be to have updated cabinets, gorgeous countertops, stainless steel appliances and new flooring; or that large island that will be great for entertaining our friends and family. It’s like a breath of fresh air when you think about it, isn’t it? So many of us look at our kitchen and imagine how much more functional it would be if we could just rearrange a few things. To have more storage or more counter space and seating for when we have company. And we all know how important it is to have an updated kitchen if we decide to sell our home. And like the Thornton’s we want to enjoy it for a little while too.

But then things can get overwhelming with design choices, the money, time to remodel, the mess it can cause. How do you decide when to do it yourself, or when to call a professional? Our kitchen is essential for us every day so it can almost seem more of an inconvenience than a reality.

That’s where Curtis Sebastian with L & S Contracting comes in. He takes that overwhelming, unattainable feeling and makes your new kitchen a reality. Whether you know exactly what you want or all you have is just a vision, Curtis and L & S Contracting works with you through every step of the process. Curtis builds you a design plan and walks you through the design choices before any construction begins. For the Thornton’s, construction started on a Monday and they were able to enjoy their new kitchen that Friday.  Take a look at a day-by-day slideshow from beginning to end. https://youtu.be/R_Ngp-cGe6A

“We have a large family, 6 children and 6 grandchildren.  My husband and I both have our siblings also living in this area and we all get together often.  It seems that everyone always gathers in the kitchen and with the new kitchen being more open, it also provides more room for entertaining.  We are very pleased with the way our kitchen turned out and are so thankful for Curtis and L&S Contracting!” Barbara Thornton

L & S Contracting has been in operation in Fayette, Coweta and Pike County, Georgia since 2012. Barbour Family Custom Home Nearing Completion

Barbour Family Custom Home Nearing Completion

Back in July, the Barbour family began their journey of building a custom home. Now that October is coming to an end, so is their home building process. They are in the final phases of building their home and the reality of this being the home they will raise their family is very exciting.

Most recently, the interior and exterior have been painted, the hardwoods floors have also been installed, the bathroom vanities and tile surround shower have been completed. “After months of looking over samples of flooring, paint, cabinets, tile; this is all becoming a reality for our family”, said Karen Barbour. “I’m just so excited to celebrate the holidays in our new home.”

Clint and Karen have really enjoyed the process of building a home with L & S Contracting. They have been able to customize this floorplan to make it a home their family can grow in over the years. Curtis Sebastian, co-owner of L & S Contracting, has offered his expertise and advice on different ways they could make changes to the original floor plan. One major change they decided was to enclose the space that was blueprinted for the covered patio. This will give them additional space in the family room. They also decided to add built-in cabinets on either side of the fireplace, allowing for additional storage and shelving. In the half bathroom, Karen found an antique dresser and refinished it to be used as the vanity. They also decided to move the garage entry to the side of the house.

For more information on the homes available to build with L & S Contracting, please visit our website at http://l-scontracting.com/Floor_Plans.php. L & S Contracting has lots available to build a home. They will also locate land for you or build on your own property. Chose one of their floor plans, or bring your own.

Master Bathroom Retreat

Master Bathroom Retreat

The owners of a 2-story traditional home built in the 1990’s in Fayette County’s Peachtree City, GA were ready to relax in a new master bath retreat.  The original master bathroom had all of those 90’s finishes we all remember, like brass faucet and light fixtures, a marble Jacuzzi tub, a fiber glass shower with fog glass door, and the dreaded carpet flooring. The owners envisioned their master bath retreat to have a modern, contemporary look with sleek lines. They chose to upgrade their vanity to a custom espresso vanity with a tower, offering additional storage, separating the two sinks and beautiful Corian counter tops. They also extended the tile four feet up the walls. The original marble Jacuzzi tub was replaced with a stand-alone tub. The new shower has a handheld sprayer and a towel warmer just outside the all glass door surround. They completed the bathroom with bronze finishes throughout, from the hardware, to the faucets and the lighting. The double barn doors offer a refreshingly warm welcome to their dream-come true master bathroom.

The Barbour Family Building their Dream Home

The Barbour Family Building Their Dream Home

Clint and Karen Barbour are a hardworking, professional couple with a young son, Jonas.  After they got married they moved into what was a perfect home for them in Peachtree City. As they began expanding their family, they realized their home couldn’t expand with them. Now that Jonas is an active toddler, they are even more in need of space for their family. After many discussions over the months and years, they have decided to build a new home on 5 acres in southeast Coweta County, just a few miles from historic Senoia.

So how did they get to this point? Well, this story is just the beginning. If you have contemplated building a new home, but have some hesitations, follow the Barbour’s as they go through the new construction, custom home building process.

Clint and Karen’s 1200 square foot home in Peachtree City was a perfect home for just the two of them starting out as a newly married couple. It was close to both of their parents, had direct access to the golf cart paths in Peachtree City, a few miles from their offices in Fayetteville and convenient to retail and restaurants. The only downside to this home was the size, especially when they began preparing their home for their first child.

They went through what many people go through. “Do we renovate our current home?” “Is it worth it?” For the Barbour’s, they didn’t want to live in a construction zone nor did they feel it would be worth it. So the next question for them was, “Do we buy/build a new home or find an older home to purchase?” After much research and discussion, they decided it would be much more beneficial and affordable for them to build a new home. However, if they were building a new home, they wanted some land. So the next part of their search was finding the land and a builder.

Clint and Curtis, co-owner of L & S Contracting have been friends for more than half their life, so trusting a friend and L & S Contracting was the best decision for the Barbour’s. Senoia was an obvious location for them, because many of their friends and family are already living or are moving to the area.  Still, though, finding the land wasn’t easy and they had to be patient until they found the right property. According to Karen, “It takes a very vivid imagination to picture your home on a piece of property when all you can see is trees. It was like a feeling. When we saw it, we knew it.” Clint said, “We really put all our trust in Curtis and Will to help us find the land, and they made it happen.”

Barbour_(1).jpgCurrently, a portion of the property has been cleared of trees and has been graded in preparation for the slab to be poured. When asked what they are looking forward to most about their home, Clint said “I’m excited to have 5 acres of land to have a garden, walking trails and maybe even a tire swing for Jonas.” Karen is looking forward to having her “dream kitchen overlooking the family room and all the memories they will make as a family”.

The Barbour’s home is scheduled to be completed in late October or early November. They are excited they will be able to celebrate the holidays in their new home. Follow us over the next few months as the Barbour’s continue on this journey of building their dream home.
